As part of the Digital India initiative, The central government of India launched several apps in the past five years to offer services faster with less bureaucratic interference and also improved the functionality and interface of the existing apps to enhance the user experience. Here, we are listing the popular government applications that will serve you well in getting the services delivered on the smartphone.
BHIM
BHIM Developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) Finance, the Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM) app. It is based on the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and is one of the most reliable applications to make a cashless transaction in India. Customers can send, receive money or even check bank balance on the BHIM app. Also, he or she can make a purchase in online stores. The app supports the 13 regional languages (Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Odia, and Urdu). It is available on both Google Play and Apple App Store to download and use.
IRCTC
IRCTC Rail Connect Developed by IRCTC Official. It is a renewed version of the old Indian Railways. The minimalistic interface offers services with simple steps via a swipe gesture, shuffle, select and book. The key functionality of the app is train search, general booking, special ladies ticket booking, Tatkal & Premium-Tatkal quota booking, Cancel confirmed tickets. It syncs with IRCTC’s NGeT Website and NGeT Mobile App so, the users can view, cancel or file TDR of e-tickets booked through the official website. And also, the app provides live reservation information and alerts to the user notification on the phone.
Digilocker
Digilocker offers cloud storage for important documents like study certificates, driving license, and other government service documents. Also, it can be retrieved on the phone to present to the government official for verification. Users can show their digital copy of Aadhaar card, driving license at the airport security point and when asked by the traffic police in any part of India. It is developed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), The app is available on both Play Store and App Store.
mPassport Seva
Install mPassport Seva if you are planning to get a passport or process verification. The app developed by the Consular, Passport, and Visa (CPV) Division, Government of India. The applicants can track the status, find the nearest Passport Seva Kendra (PSK), and general information such as documents required for verification and other various steps involved in obtaining a Passport.
It will also offer real-time police verification status and how to appeal passport office in case of rejection.
Umang
Umang (Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance) is an excellent app from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the National e-Governance Division (NeGD). Umang acts as a unified platform for all citizens to access all government departments and their services. You can integrate the app with other apps like Aadhaar, DigiLocker, and PayGov. The government says that all the new such services will automatically be integrated with the platform. It also supports Aadhaar-based and other authentication mechanisms for service access. The sensitive data of the users saved in an encrypted format and others can’t access it. This app also helps users get PAN card, check Provident Fund (PF) balance, file IT Returns, pay utility bills, and more. This app is also available in 13 regional languages.
MyGov
MyGovIt is developed by the government of India. MyGov offers a single platform for citizens to offer suggestions to central ministries and associated organizations to help them improve existing services. Users can actively participate in new policy formulation and program implementation

Incredible India is a tourism app developed by the Ministry of Tourism, it is a tailor-made app for both local and foreign tourists. It shows a famous holistic destination, revolving around major experiences such as spirituality, heritage, adventure, culture, yoga, wellness, and more. The mobile app has been designed keeping in mind the preferences of the modern traveler. It offers in-depth information about the tourist places including government-authorized tour operators, hotels, train transportation facility details, when is a good time to visit a particular place, also important dates of the festival, so that the tourists can participate with locals, native culinary delights to eat and more.
My Speed TRAI
This application allows you to track the data speed experience and sends the results to TRAI. The app captures and sends coverage, data speed, and other network information along with the device and location of the tests. The app does not send any personal information to the user. All results are reported anonymously. While this application gives TRAI details of your data experience, sending a report to TRAI does not constitute a complaint. In the case of poor experience, users are requested to register a complaint with their network service providers.

Post info is an app from the Department of Posts. The app provides facilities like tracking of parcels, post office search, postage calculator, insurance premium calculator, and interest calculator.
